Meet Your School Counselor!
My name is Alexandra Huguelet and I am the School Counselor serving Mary Lin Elementary School. This is my second year working at Mary Lin and I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful school family! I joined the Mary Lin community after working in the Cobb County School District for four years.
An Atlanta native, I earned my undergraduate degree in history from Agnes Scott College, my master's degree in school counseling from the Georgia State University and my specialist degree in professional counseling and supervision from the University of West Georgia. Currently, I'm a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Georgia. For my dissertation, I will be training other school counselors to implement small groups aimed to develop coping skills in their elementary school students through yoga, including mindfulness, breathing, poses, and visualization.
I am a relational cultural therapist and am passionate about using creative and expressive counseling interventions to best meet our students' needs. Yoga, art, and play therapy interventions are integrated into the elements of my comprehensive school counseling program.
I hope that this website will introduce you to the school counseling program at Mary Lin Elementary and keep you informed of all of the marvelous things that are going on at our school.
Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns. I look forward to working with you and your child(ren)!
